FGR Community give over 450 Shirts to Year 3 Pupils

very year, since 2015, we have given out hundreds of replica shirts to children in Year 3, across the whole local area of Gloucestershire.

Covid-19 restrictions means our community team are currently unable to present them with the match tickets, which would typically be part of the scheme, but they will still get to wear their brand new FGR shirt with pride.

Our community team worked hard to visit over 70 schools to deliver more than 450 shirts to the children ahead of the Christmas period - and every primary school in Gloucestershire is included in the offer along with the FGR ambassador primary schools.

It’s long been proven that children around the age of seven pick the football club they will go on to support for the rest of their lives, so this is our way of encouraging them to choose their local team - and join us on our journey.

Sarah Urquhart, Head of FGR Community, said: "2020 has been tough for everyone – school children have struggled spending so many months away from their classrooms, activities and their friends.

“It was a shame that we couldn’t offer free tickets to come along to the innocent New Lawn this season and experience what happens on an FGR matchday, but we have been able to continue to present Year 3 pupils with their replica shirts.

"The responses we have received from Gloucestershire schools has been outstanding – and we are really proud to see hundreds of school children wearing their FGR shirts with pride.”
